Washington State Governor Launches New Plan for Innovation Zones While Touring HollisterStier Facility

SPOKANE, Wash., January 15, 2007 – HollisterStier Laboratories, a leading manufacturer of high quality sterile fill and allergy products for the global pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical markets, was pleased to host Governor Chris Gregoire at the Spokane facility last week.  HollisterStier’s steady rate of growth over the last seven years, and the unique corporate culture dedicated to integrity and delivering on promises, all while promoting community involvement, captured the Governor’s attention. 

“It is important that Washingtonians know the global health industry is not just a Puget Sound phenomenon,” said Governor Gregoire.  “With the continued leadership of companies like HollisterStier, Spokane has the potential to develop into an area much like the Research Triangle in North Carolina.”  

“To maintain our high levels of customer service, we hired over 70 employees last year and are currently undergoing a $30 million expansion that doubles current manufacturing capacity and lab space, in addition to a new office complex,” said Anthony Bonanzino, Ph.D., President and CEO. 

This made HollisterStier the perfect location for Governor Gregoire to announce her new Innovation Partnership Zones Initiative.  The Innovation Zones initiative will encourage research-based employers to locate near each other to form research parks, similar to the Research Triangle in North Carolina and Torrey Pines in California.
